Garage Rock Blues continues

The next call we received was from a drummer. Several drummers as a matter of fact. They all called on the same day in response to the ad for bandmembers. We decided to have a cattle call audition. If you are not familiar with this process it is very simple. Tell them all an exact time to be there. Give each one three well known cover tunes to be prepared for and ask them to bring a minimal kit to expetide set up and tear down. Drummer one at six, drummer two at 7, drummer three at 8 and so on, you get the picture I'm sure. This presents a whole new set of issues and problems to deal with! We had five drummers scheduled for a saturday evening cattle call at my house for a change. I had a nice large rehearsal room all set up with a small PA and everything needed to make the auditions smooth, fast and painless. The only thing that I forgot to figure into my expectations of a quick painless evening were the drummers.

Country Song

Country Song

There ain’t no git up in my get along
That’s why I wrote this country song
And even though I don’t really know why
It makes all the cowgirls cry
There ain’t no git up in my get along
I hope to find some in this song
60 years have come and gone
I never wrote this kind of song
Now as the sun sets on the mountains
And the sky is turning red
I am following up on a promise
I once made to a dear old friend
I will write a country song
But not until I’m almost gone
Now I don’t know much about hauling hay
Or getting up at the crack of day
And Mr. Ed is the horse I know
Not birthing calves at live stock shows
Now cowboy up means nothing to me
Saddle sores I never wanna see
I am just doing my best doing what I can
To keep a promise once made man to man
There ain’t no git up in my get along
That’s why I wrote this country song
And even though I don’t really know why
It makes all the cowgirls cry
There ain’t no git up in my get along
I hope to find some in this song
Now that I’ve done what I said would
I hope you’re pleased and smiling down
You know this ain’t easy for me to say
But I really miss you in a special way
You did a lot but you did not know
You could bring peace to my troubled soul
There ain’t no git up in my get along
That’s why I wrote this country song
And even though I don’t really know why
It makes all the cowgirls cry
There ain’t no git up in my get along
I hope to find some in this song

Too old to rock ?

Too old to Rock too old to rap well I believe that’s just a load of crap
My Head explodes from the sounds inside no place to run no place to hide.
Now if you really do believe that years alone can make you obsolete
Then listen here to what I say and carry my message throughout the day
It ain’t about how old you are you don’t have to be a superstar
For if the music’s trapped in your head please let it out before your dead.
Say yea…
Black or white yellow brown or red it’s all up there right in your head
It doesn’t really matter what the bigot says we all turn to dust baby when were dead
Until that day don’t you hesitate play all your music before it’s too late
Say yea…
He man she man and all in between it does not really matter I don’t give a damn
Long as you can sing it or play it in a jam
Too old to rock too old to rap.

Another song in the can

“Crack in my Windowpane”

There’s a crack in my window pane
And I don’t know who to blame
Can I blame you?
For the crack in my window pane
Can I blame you?
Can I blame you, you, you, you?
For the crack in my window pane
Can I blame you?
Can I blame you?
Let it be a part of you
Let it all encompass you
Choose kindness over hate
Just be wise and don’t hesitate
All you really need is love and grace.
You’ve got to feel it inside
And see it with your own eyes
Every moment is unique
Every second is complete
Live in the now it won’t repeat
Life goes by at lightning speed
Love will give you harmony.
Feel it deep inside
And see it with your own eyes
There is a lesson to be learned
Open your ears so it can be heard
Every moment is complete
Every second is complete
Live in the now because it won’t repeat
There’s a crack in my window pane
And I don’t know who to blame
Can I blame you?
For the crack in my window pane
Can I blame you?
Can I blame you, you, you, you?
For the crack in my window pane
Can I blame you?
Can I blame you?
